Travel Management Jobs description
Travel management includes strategic planning, marketing, and communication activities. In travel management, executives work from retail outlets to offer consumer or business travel products. Their primary responsibilities include sales development, staff/financial management, and daily operational management.In travel management, managers offer specialist, professional, and competitive travel products as online bookings, consumer knowledge, and individually tailored travel needs make theirs a highly competitive environment.
In travel management, strategies are developed to hit or exceed sales targets, regardless of the size of the outlet or products offered. The usual tasks performed include: promoting and marketing the business; managing budgets and maintaining statistical/financial records; selling travel products and tour packages; sourcing products and destinations; taking part in familiarization visits to new destinations; liaising with travel partners to manage bookings and schedules often one year in advance; dealing with customer enquiries and aiming to meet their expectations; and overseeing the smooth, efficient running of the business.
Travel management also involves: constantly motivating the sales team to hit their targets and thus ensuring the profitability of the company; meeting regularly with team leaders to share sales figures and planning their approach to work; meeting of company directors on strategy and any local issues and future trends; overseeing the recruitment, selection, and retention of staff, payroll matters, and staff training; organizing incentives, bonus schemes, and competitions; communicating with sales consultants and providing encouragement, help, and advice; and dealing with disciplinary matters and customer complaints.
