Traveling work is not a new concept, quite the opposite; it has just never been something that has been looked at as very appetizing. We usually see the disheveled salesman living out of the back of his car and getting doors closed in his face. The current economy has dictated that people need to take a job wherever they can get one and this once frowned upon way of making a living is starting to look like a godsend and some people in every field are taking advantage of. Let’s look at some of the fields that best suit this new “travel for work” concept.
Food and Beverage: Probably the one area that you were never thinking about but it is one that if you are willing to move around, you will not only have a job but probably a high paying one that will allow you to bank a lot of money.
Most hotel companies, especially the large ones, have traveling workers that they call ‘task force members’. These individuals are not locked into any one property instead they work at newly acquired or just opening properties. The luxury of the position is that just about every expense you will have is taken care of! You will be staying at the property you are working at and have no rent or room to pay for. You are working in food and beverage so all of your meals will be taken care of and on top of all that there will more than likely be an expense account or per diem attached to the position.
Not only will you have the benefit of all of that but you will get opening experience or conversion experience that is considered gospel in the industry. When you finally settle down and decide where you want to live, you will have the advantage of working all across the country and decide where you fit in the best. You will also have seen just about every scenario that you could possibly be faced with and be ready for it when it comes up at your property.
Meeting Planner: This is another great area that is filled with opportunity if you are willing to travel. A lot of individuals that start in this particular area end up getting lucrative job offers from companies that they are working with based solely on how well of a job they do for them.
A meeting planner is exactly that, they plan every aspect of meetings for companies and then usually travel with them from location to location. The experience you gather traveling from hotel to hotel is priceless. It also opens you up to be able to take a position in other fields out of pure exposure. For instance, after having been in the meeting planner business for a while you could take a job as a sales manager or events manager for a hotel as you would be handing the actual events once they are booked. It is exactly what you were doing for your clients except now you are working for a major hotel company and all of the benefits that go with it.
Now, I have only gone into a couple of areas here but the possibilities are endless. Construction, nursing, sales and many other professions offer incredible opportunities to people that like to be on the move. Some other travel jobs include traveling computer jobs, and travel agent jobs in Utah and travel jobs in St. Louis. In all of these jobs your meals and housing are usually paid for which gives you the freedom of maybe taking a job for a little less but actually being able to save more as you don’t have the usual expenses you would have if you were grounded in one place and had to pay electric, cable, etc…
Bottom line here is that you can go anywhere and be anyplace you want if you are willing to do a little work along the way. You have to wonder why it has taken so long for this to catch on. People love to travel; they usually just don’t have the money to travel like they’d like. They also generally have an opinion of the experience when they travel to different places, so it’s only natural that if they can write reasonably well, it is logical that someone should pay to have that experience written up. Another thing to consider is if you know a lot about computers, try traveling computer jobs. None of these jobs are the easiest, however, they allow people to experience places they would probably otherwise never get the chance visit in their lifetime. That makes these jobs a win-win on all levels. Opportunities are out there and they are endless so go see the world and get paid to do it!
